Official ballots for Iloilo City which will be used for the 2022 national and local elections on May 9 have arrived on Thursday, April 28.
This was confirmed in a press release issued by City Treasurer Engr. Jinny Hermano and City Election Officer and concurrent Assistant Regional Election Director Atty. Tomas Valera.
The official ballots, which were sent from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Manila, are currently in the custody of the City Treasurer.
“The official ballots for Iloilo City for the 2022 national and local elections have arrived from Comelec Manila today and are now in the custody of the City Treasurer at the Comelec Bodega in Molo, Iloilo City,” the press statement said.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Comelec also undertook final preparations for the elections this week.
Iloilo City Comelec Assistant II Jonathan Sayno said they gave final instructions to the Electoral Board who will spearhead the conduct of the election at the different clustered precincts.
“Subong nga semana, sako na gid kita. Naghatag kita final instruction sa electoral board kag schools kada hapon this week kon ano pagahimuon sa duty,” he said in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas Iloilo.
According to Sayno, the Electoral Board composed of 1,515 individuals excluding the support staff will be designated to the different clustered precincts in the metro.
Currently, Iloilo City has 505 clustered precincts located at the 63 polling centers or schools.
“Our Electoral Board will be designated to our 505 clustered precincts. The Electoral Board will be composed of three persons, particularly the chairman, vice chairman, and member. They are the ones tasked by the Comelec to conduct the election using vote-counting machines,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Comelec also conducted a series of voter’s education to the different citizens’ arm groups this week to orient the poll watchers of the different political groups. (DG)
