The Iloilo City government has submitted its COVID-19 vaccination plan to the Department of Health (DOH) on February 19, 2021 for its consideration and approval, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
The plan identified vaccination areas per district, with the bigger districts of Jaro and City Proper assigned with two inoculation areas each to prevent overcrowding.
Treñas said each vaccination area will have four designated vaccination sites, or a total of 36 vaccination centers in the metro.
But he explained that the vaccination will not be simultaneous as the city has to ensure that all the health protocols are followed, especially physical distancing.
“Sa aton plano, we have identified vaccination areas. Gin-divide ta sa siyam ka vaccination areas per district kag gin-divide ta ang Jaro sa Jaro 1 kag Jaro 2 kag City Proper 1 and City Proper 2,” he said in an interview during the Iloilo City government’s Uswag Patrol program.
Among the vaccination centers that have been identified by the city government are schools and universities particularly Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School, John B. Lacson Maritime Foundation University, West Visayas State University (WVSU), Central Philippine University (CPU), Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) and University of San Agustin.
Initially, the City Covid-19 Team said that residents of Molo and Arevalo district will be inoculated at John B. Lacson Maritime Foundation University while residents from Jaro district will be vaccinated at CPU.
WVSU and ISAT-U will cater to residents of La Paz and Lapuz and the University of San Agustin will accommodate residents from the City Proper district.
Treñas added that the second vaccine simulation exercise will be conducted at the Ateneo de Iloilo – Santa Maria Catholic School on March 3.
The city government is aiming to finish the vaccination not longer than 30 minutes per person to cater to more residents and hasten the process.
Aside from the vaccination plan, the city government also submitted its proposed Economic Recovery Plan to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for approval.
The recovery plan aims to provide the roadmap for the economic recovery of the city from the effects brought about by the pandemic. (ERS)
