Iloilo Diversion Road repaving eases traffic flow

Motorists traveling along Sen. Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Avenue (Iloilo Diversion Road) in Iloilo City can now enjoy a smoother and safer journey, thanks to a completed road repaving project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The ₱17.5-million project, funded under the FY 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), aims to alleviate traffic congestion and improve travel conditions.

Undertaken by the DPWH Iloilo City District Engineer Office, the project employed modern materials and techniques for enhanced durability and comfort.

According to OIC-District Engineer Roy C. Pacanan, the extensive road overlaying utilized emulsified asphalt, hot-laid bituminous concrete surfaces, and thermoplastic pavement materials for road markings.

“DPWH remains committed to providing a safe travel experience for all road users. The improved road conditions will resolve the longstanding issues of road impairments and ensure the sustainability of our highway pavements in Iloilo City,” emphasized Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel.

The comprehensive approach ensures an improved road surface and durable traffic lines, significantly contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the avenue.

Motorists have already noticed the benefits of the repaving project, reporting smoother and more efficient traffic flow along the Iloilo Diversion Road.
