Iloilo governor yet to select police provincial chief

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has not yet decided on the new leader for the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), according to Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the Western Visayas police chief.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters has not yet provided Governor Defensor with the list of recommendees for the IPPO director position.

Among the candidates is Colonel Bayani Razalan, currently the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the IPPO.

Originally, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 recommended Colonel Arnel Ramos, chief of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RFMB) 6, for the position.

However, Ramos was removed from consideration because he had not held the rank of police colonel for the required minimum of six months.

Despite these developments, Governor Defensor initially approved Razalan to act as the head of IPPO.

“Si Gov (Defensor) pa rin ang may final say,” Wanky stated, emphasizing that the final decision rests with the governor.

Razalan, who was appointed as IPPO OIC on April 19, also serves concurrently as the chief of the Regional Intelligence Division (RID).
