Nothing new for the Iloilo Kisela Knights. Another day, another sweep.

The Iloilo-based chess squad once again scored two straight victories on Day three of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) and is still on top with an untainted win-loss record.

Entering the two-match day 3 of the PCAP tournament, the Kisela Knights looked to keep their winning streak alive as they prepared to take on the tough Zamboanga team.

It was a back-and-forth affair during the Blitz category as Iloilo scored 3.5 while Zamboanga was able to equalize after a draw in the last board.

The Kisela Knights finally broke through the lead column as GM Joey Antonio Jr., WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, NM John Michael Silvederio, Fritz Bryan Porras, and Dennis Bernas clinched huge wins in the Rapid category that closed the Zamboanga series with a win, 13.5-7.5.

After the Zamboanga series, Iloilo faced Lapu-Lapu and carried on the momentum they had in their previous win to close out the series, 16-5.

A huge sweep by team Iloilo in the Blitz category opened a wide 7-0 lead while 9 points were contributed in the Rapid category.

Iloilo’s successive wins put them on top of the rankings and maintained their clean record with dominant wins against Palawan, Toledo City, Cebu City, Zamboanga, and Lapu-Lapu.
