Day 9 of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) tournament saw the Iloilo Kisela Knights and the San Juan Predators delivering their best.
Entering the match as Northern division’s number one team, the Predators was considered a slight favorite heading into the matchup against Southern division’s number two team.
The Predators led first in the Blitz category, 4.5-2.5 after three Ilonggo chess players failed to score in the said category.
In the Rapid category, the Ilonggos regained momentum following their loss in the Blitz.
Led by Karl Viktor Ochoa and NM Cesar Mariano, the Kisela Knights took the Rapid category, 9-5 and eventually won the inter-division clash.
In their second match of PCAP Day 9, the Kisela Knights fell to Northern division team Rizal Batch Towers with a score of 7.5-13.5.
