Iloilo Kisela Knights split PCAP Day 11, vows to bounce back after Manila loss

Day 11 of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) tournament saw the Iloilo Kisela Knights at 1-1 after a win against Olongapo and a loss against Manila.

Iloilo’s NM Cesar Mariano and the squad won six out of the seven boards in the Blitz category.

They headed into the Rapid category with the 6-1 lead. They scored nine points to start PCAP Day 11 with a 15-6 victory over Olongapo.

GM Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr., NM Giovanni Mejia, Fiona Guirhem, NM Mariano, Fritz Bryan Porras, Mark Jossel Mariano, and Lloyd Lanciola represented the Kisela Knights against Olongapo.

In their second match, the Kisela Knights lost by just two points against Northern Division powerhouse Manila.

Both teams made successive counter-plays against the other but Manila eventually emerged victorious.

After Day 11, the Kisela Knights are currently sitting at the third spot of the Southern Division behind Negros and Camarines.
