Iloilo police has a new chief

He was best known as the face of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

But now Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero will showcase his management skills to the 2,033-strong Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

Gorero, who was once PRO-6 spokesperson, was designated as officer-in-charge of the IPPO effective Sept. 15, 2020.

He will oversee the IPPO, on top of his designation as chief of the Regional Plans Division. He will “temporarily” assume the post vacated by Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the relief was triggered by Lucas’ reassignment as chief of staff at the PNP Finance Service effective Sept 14, 2020.

“It’s basically a promotion for Colonel Lucas,” she said.

Lucas, who used to be the chief of the PRO-6 Comptrollership Division, was designated IPPO chief effective Feb 12, 2020.

Meanwhile, Malong said the PNP Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board (SOPPB) has yet to forward the three police officers who will be recommended for the position.

From the list, Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. will pick his choice for the post.

But Malong said the PRO-6 leadership is inclined to recommend Gorero for the post.

Both Lucas and Gorero are graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

Lucas finished in 1995 while Gorero graduated in 1998.
