The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is mourning the loss of Major Sullen Bolinas Domingo, a ranking officer described as a “dedicated and esteemed member,” who died in a road crash on May 10 in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Colonel Bayani Razalan, IPPO chief, confirmed the tragedy occurred along B. Aquino Avenue in Barangay Sambag.
Domingo, 42, had served nearly two decades with the IPPO, recently holding the position of Logistics and Supply officer. He began his service in 2003 as Police Officer 1 (Patrolman) and ascended to commissioned officer status via Lateral Entry in 2012.
Domingo had served as chief of police in several towns, including Barotac Nuevo in 2014, Batad and Barotac Viejo in 2016, Cabatuan in 2017, Alimodian in 2020, and San Miguel in 2022.
His death came just as he and his common-law wife, Rogielyn Planta, were preparing to marry on September 8, 2024.
Planta, in a radio interview, recounted Domingo as a caring partner and a committed officer. She initially believed that Domingo had only been injured in the accident.
However, she was later informed by hospital authorities that he had passed away.
The incident reportedly occurred as Domingo was traveling from the IPPO headquarters. He attempted to avoid hitting a pedestrian crossing the road but still sideswiped them, causing him to lose control.
His motorcycle struck a utility pole, and he was ejected, landing approximately 70 meters away from the pedestrian lane. Domingo’s body was found slumped 8 feet from his motorcycle.
Despite wearing a full-face helmet, Domingo succumbed to his injuries shortly after being rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center.
