Iloilo province has dedicated P4.8 million to tackle classroom shortages, earmarking the funds for a two-classroom addition at Ubian Integrated School, Brgy. Ubian, Maasin.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. underscored his dedication to educational development as he presented the funds to officials including Municipal Treasurer Marcelina R. Guidoriago and School Principal Reynald T. Paurillo, with Punong Barangay Glenn Consumo and Councilor John Mondejar in attendance.

The initiative is part of Defensor’s “Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya” (BES Probins) Program, reflecting a sustained effort to address what he has termed a ‘national emergency’ due to the lack of classrooms.

Moreover, the Maasin municipality was awarded P500,000 for its distinguished performance in the Kasadyahan sa Kabanhawanan 2024, with its Tultugan Festival securing the top spot at the Festival Tribes Competition on January 27.
