Ilongga volleyball star Aduke Ogunsanya just can’t catch a break.
After a disappointing torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in her right knee last 2022, the Dumangas, Iloilo native had the same fate. But this time, in her left knee.
During the Choco Mucho Flying Titans’ win over the NXLED Chameleons, Ogunsanya fell awkwardly after attempting a vertical block.
Ogunsanya was seen crying in pain but after a few minutes, the former De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers middle blocker stood up on her own but was limping.
She then directly went straight ahead to the locker room while the Choco Mucho hopefuls prayed that Ogunsanya was safe.
However, she will return to square one after the Choco Mucho medical team announced her second ACL injury in three years.
“We are disheartened by this unfortunate development, considering Aduke had just fully recovered from her previous injury and is making a strong return. We are, however, confident in her resilience and spirit to overcome this challenge once again,” said Choco Mucho in a statement.
With the recent development, Ogunsanya will most probably miss the whole 2024 PVL season as an ACL recovery is expected to last for 12 months at most.
The last time that Ogunsanya tore her right ACL, she also missed the entire season and failed to suit up in back-to-back conferences for the Flying Titans.
