TWO boxers from Iloilo and Negros Occidental will try to snatch titles in their respective divisions in the Return of the Champions on March 8 at the Angono Rizal Gymnasium.
Iloilo native Denver Cuello and Negrense Sonny Boy Jaro are set to face Indonesian boxers.
Cuello from Cabatuan town will take the ring for the first time since 2015 and face Jack Amisa.
Cuello, a former WBC silver minimumweight champion, said he is ready to fight and after recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered in a world championship six years ago.
“I am happy to have another opportunity to fight again and have another shot at winning a world championship,” shared by 32-year-old Cuello who has 36-5-6 win-loss-draw record, including 24 stoppage wins.
Amisa also recorded impressive wins 21-45-2 boxing card, with 14 knockout victories.
Meanwhile, Jaro, 36, of Silay City, Negros Occ. will battle Indonesian fighter Frans Damur Palue in the co-main event.
After a one-year hiatus from boxing, Jaro will try to improve his 44-14-5 win-loss-draw record, including 31 stoppage victories. Palue, on the other hand, has 15-21-3 boxing slate, including 10 knockouts.
The event Return of the Champions is presented by Highland and DMAD International Promotions.
