Ilonggo voters told to study bets by checking their track record

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Iloilo City urged Ilonggo voters to know their candidates for local and national polls and check their track record if they have the capacity to lead once elected in office.

Comelec-Iloilo City Election Assistant II Jonathan Sayno made the appeal following the kick-off of the campaign period for local candidates on Friday, March 25, 2022.

“Usisa-on ang track record, kilalahon, kag tun-an ang kapasidad sang mga kandidato kon bala nagakabagay man gid bala sila sa posisyon nga ila padalaganan,” he said in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas on Friday.

According to Sayno, the campaign period is the perfect time for the voters to know more about their candidates and check their track record to help them decide with the nearing May 2022 elections.

“This is a time nga ang aton mga kandidato nagalibot, nagapakilala sila kag nagapabalo sang ila nga mga plataporma gani ang mga botante ti-on man ini nga usisaon naton kag kilalahon naton ang mga kandidato,” he added.

The campaign period for the local bets runs until May 7, according to Sayno.

During this period, local bets are allowed to conduct campaign, rallies or any political activity subject to existing election laws and guidelines.

Meanwhile, Sayno reminded the Ilonggo public to be vigilant and immediately report any illegal activities like vote-buying of any candidates or political party to Comelec.

“Kon may makita gani nga mga bayolasyon ukon ilegal nga aktibidad sa isa ka kandidato o political party kaangay sang vote-buying gilayon ini nga ireport sa talapatan sang Comelec. Kinanglan manindugan gid kita kag mangin alerto subong nga umpisa na sang campaign period,” he said. (DG)
