After a tough and physical match against the Ateneo de Iloilo squad, the CPU Golden Lions prevailed as they managed 2 conversions while Ateneo was held scoreless were hailed as champions in the 2019 ILOPRISAA men’s secondary football.
The Golden Lions displayed good team chemistry evident by how in-sync they were in their executions, showing beautiful one-tap passing with finesse and control in the pitch.
It took a few minutes for Ateneo to adjust and read CPU’s offense as they began to intercept Golden Lion’s attempts to slice through their middle field defense.
A shaky turn of events happened at around the 30th minute of the match that turned chaos into fortune for CPU, as their goalkeeper made a crucial mistake, throwing the ball too slow that was received by an Ateneo player but was saved eventually.
After the save, CPU then began to operate fast in their offense and within a minute after their goalkeeper’s mistake, was able to score first with a beautiful goal.
With momentum on their side, the CPU offense began to click and converted another goal to create a 2-0 lead.
The Ateneo squad had solid attempts but never completed a goal against the tough defense of CPU.
