Indian national hurt in shooting incident

With blood dripping from his abdomen, an Indian national personally reported to the Iloilo City Police Station 6 that he was shot by riding-in-tandem gunmen.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Jan. 10 along C1 Road in Barangay San Jose, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

Mohit Sharma, 27, of Barangay Dulonan, Arevalo, asked another motorist to seek help from the police.

Members of ICPS6 then took him to Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital.

Sharma later told the police that his assailants were also Indian nationals. He identified one of the suspects as a certain Bobby.

Prior to the incident, Sharma said that Arwinder Singh called and directed him that they meet at C1 Road. Singh said that they would swap motorcycles.

Sharma works and lives with Singh, who has a lending business.

Singh is also the same person who was stabbed and mauled by four Indian nationals on Dec. 17, 2023.

But there was no Singh at their meeting place.

Sharma said he decided to return home but he noticed that two motorcycle-riding men were tailing him.

The two then blocked his way. The back rider, who he identified as Bobby, pulled a gun and repeatedly shot him.

Sharma claimed he identified Bobby as the latter visited Singh several times.

Recovered from the crime scene were three fired cartridges of caliber .45 ammunition.

Captain Mavin Laraño, Iloilo City Police Station 6 chief, said they’re looking at business or money issues as possible motive of the incident.

It could also be a form of revenge since the victim is a friend of one of the four suspects who mauled and stabbed Singh several weeks ago.
