BACOLOD City – A newborn baby girl was found buried in a vacant lot in Barangay Handumanan here on Tuesday night.
Police Captain Lalaine Lagoting, head of Police Station 10, said the baby was wrapped in a towel and was placed inside a box when discovered by some children.
Prior to this, Lagoting said the children saw three people passed by them and went to the vacant lot.
The children got curious and dug up the lot, until they found the lifeless baby placed inside a box and sealed in a plastic, she added.
Lagoting said they believed the baby was not a product of an abortion, but they could not determine the reason why the baby was buried there.
They decided to give the baby a proper burial at the public cemetery later that night, through the help of the barangay officials.
Lagoting said they have no lead yet on the identities of the three persons, who were seen burying the infant.
