Irked over traffic jam, two  men in pedicab stab jeep driver

Wanting to get ahead of the traffic, two men on a pedicab stabbed the driver of a vehicle in front of them.

Mario Cadigal, 47, the pedicab driver, and his passenger, Vicente Polvos, 53, both residents of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City, did the daring knife attack in front of the Iloilo City Police Station 3 at Washington St., Barangay Benedicto, Jaro 7:30 p.m. of Oct 16, 2022.

The victim, 38-year-old Clemente Flores of Zone 1, Barangay Balantang, Jaro, suffered a stab injury on his left forearm.

Captain Eduardo Siacon, ICPS3 chief, said Flores was driving a passenger jeepney plying the Leganes-Iloilo City route when the incident happened.

The suspects were tailing Flores’ jeepney and wanted him to move.

They were repeatedly shooting at him, “dasiga, dasiga!” (Faster, faster!)

But because of the heavy traffic, Flores could not move an inch.

This irritated Cadigal and Polvos, who immediately got off the pedicab, went to the jeepney driver and stabbed him.

They boarded the pedicab and pedaled going to Barangay Democracia.

The wounded Flores alighted from the jeepney and ran to the police station to seek help.

Siacon said policemen immediately chased the suspects until they were collared at Democracia village.

Siacon said the two suspects were under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.

The suspects are now detained at the ICPS3 lock-up cell and were charged with frustrated homicide.
