DAVAO CITY – Tri SND Barracuda successfully defended its Team Maisugon title at the IRONMAN 70.3 Davao, securing its second consecutive victory in the event held last Sunday.
The team, led by women’s overall champion Leyann Ramo, amassed a remarkable 37,204.9 points, earning a ₱500,000 cash prize awarded by the Davao City government.
Tri SND Barracuda’s triumph came from the collective efforts of its 11-member team, including top athletes Chloe Jane Ong, Brian Borling, John Rey Tumanda, Lyllian Grace Banzon, Michael Acas, Satar Salem, Jonard Saim, Abdul Rahman Toroganan, Gene Heart Quiambao, and Sittie Aminah Dimaporo.
Points were calculated based on the top 11 individual performances within each team, regardless of gender or age.

This victory followed her win in Subic last June, solidifying her dominance in the triathlon circuit.
“It was a tough race, but the team’s synergy and determination were key to our success,” Ramo said.

“This event not only showcases our athletic talents but also honors our rich cultural heritage,” said Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, who was present at the awarding ceremony.
The event also saw fierce competition in the relay categories.
Team Isabela Tri Club dominated the relay events, winning in the men’s, women’s, and mixed categories. Their men’s relay team clocked in at 03:47:37, narrowly beating Go for Gold PH Team 1, while their women’s relay team posted a time of 04:46:15.
