BACOLOD City – Will former president now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo run for governor in Negros Occidental in the 2025 elections?
In a chance interview last week, Arroyo – whose family has vast landholdings in the province – remained tight lip, though.
When pressed for an answer amid persistent talks of an Arroyo running for the top post in the province in 2025, she just smiled.
Earlier, governor Eugenio Jose Lacson who has signified his intention to seek re-election for a third term in 2025, said he recently met with the former president but there was no talk about politics.
He also appeared unperturbed about the reports that an Arroyo will run for governor in the province in the next election.
Aside from the former president’s name coming out, also mentioned as a possible gubernatorial candidate is her son Mikey Arroyo.
Meanwhile, another Arroyo rumored to possibly join politics in the province is Dina Arroyo Tantoco, the daughter of the late 5th district Rep. Ignacio Arroyo, brother-in-law of the former president.
Dina is reportedly set to challenge 5th district Rep. Dino Yulo.
Dina together with her husband was recently seen visiting the latter’s hacienda in La Castellana town, part of the 5th district.
