ISAT U Claims Fifth Straight RSCUAA Title

(UPDATED) The ISAT U Technobees cemented their dominance in the RSCUAA VI 2024 Sports Festival, claiming their fifth consecutive overall championship in a closely contested battle.

The Capiz State University (CAPSU) Stingrays finished a commendable second, edging the West Visayas State University (WVSU) West Marals in a competition showcasing the best of Western Visayas athletics.

The RSCUAA VI 2024 Sports Festival, hosted for the first time by the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), celebrated talent, teamwork, and determination. This marked Negros Occidental’s final participation due to the NIR Act. The six-day event featured 42 competitions held across 22 venues, drawing athletes and supporters to share moments of triumph, connection, and resilience.

Thirteen state universities and colleges, representing six provinces and 115,000 college students, came together for this historic event. Over 3,500 athletes competed in 42 thrilling events. The festival emphasized more than just winning, reflecting the theme, “One Western Visayas: Promoting Peace, Inclusivity, and Well-Being through Sports,” and demonstrating unity and collaboration.

Amid fierce competition, the ISAT U Technobees, champions of the 2020 and 2023 RSCUAA events hosted by Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), showcased exceptional skill, strategy, and determination. Despite being ranked 11th after the first two days, their consistent excellence across multiple disciplines propelled them to the top. The CAPSU Stingrays and WVSU West Marals provided strong competition, keeping the standings dynamic and audiences captivated.

This year also marked a milestone for ISUFST, hosting RSCUAA for the first time in its 68-year history. ISUFST President Dr. Nordy D. Siason Jr. expressed pride in the university’s achievement. “Hosting RSCUAA 2024 was a risk we embraced wholeheartedly. This event showcased our athletes’ talent and spirit, and what ISUFST and Western Visayas can achieve through collaboration and unity,” he said.

The final day culminated in championship matches and a celebratory atmosphere, reflecting the collective journey of athletes, coaches, and organizers. While ISAT U emerged as champions, the true victory lay in the camaraderie, inclusivity, and shared experiences that defined the festival.

As the torch is passed to Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), RSCUAA 2024 leaves a legacy of grit, grace, and growth. Congratulations to all participants for making the event a resounding success! (Text by Reynalyn Cañonero and Herman Lagon/Layout by John Christian Salarza/RSCUAA 2024)
