Due to high public demand and to provide more opportunities to student-aspirants, the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) is pleased to announce a fourth admission opportunity for prospective fisheries and marine biology students for the School Year 2024-2025.

The additional batch for the ISUFST University Entrance Exam (UEE Batch 4), exclusive to the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSF) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (BSMB) programs, aims to accommodate aspiring Senior High School or Transfer students and their families eager to join a department that consistently produces topnotchers in the field of fisheries technology. Only those who have not yet taken the UEE Batches 1, 2, or 3 exams are eligible to apply.

Applications for this special batch open on Friday, May 31, and close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Interested candidates can submit their applications both online and in person. Test permits will be released on Friday, June 7, and the entrance examination is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, at 8:30 a.m., at the Main Campus-Poblacion Site. Successful BSF applicants will undergo an aptitude test and interview phase, while BSMB passers will go through the interview process, all on soon-to-be-scheduled dates.

ISUFST President Dr. Nordy Siason Jr. expressed his enthusiasm for opening Batch 4, emphasizing the university’s dedication to providing opportunities for marginalized but deserving students. “We are thrilled to offer this fourth batch to give more students the chance to be educated in an environment with a strong faculty portfolio, top-of-the-line facilities, and a caring atmosphere. This initiative aligns with our mission to make quality education accessible to all,” said Dr. Siason.

Dr. Joan Belga, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted ISUFST’s pursuit of academic excellence. “We are committed to achieving excellence in all our courses, especially with CFAS as our flagship program. We aim to attract the best and brightest students for our new batch of achievers,” Dr. Belga remarked.

ISUFST traces its roots back to 1957 and has grown significantly over the decades, transitioning through several milestones, including the introduction of various collegiate and postgraduate programs.

The university has expanded into five campuses and sites in Barotac Nuevo (Tiwi and Poblacion), Dingle, Dumangas, and San Enrique, fostering expertise in fisheries, agriculture, education, management, technology, and other fields.

This evolution culminated in its conversion to university status in 2023, following the approval of Republic Act No. 10604, making it the 10th university in Iloilo. Today, ISUFST, the only fisheries university in the country, continues to adhere to its commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility, serving as a pivotal educational institution in the region.
