As part of its drive towards internationalization, the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) has dispatched a delegation of 14 faculty members and students to participate in a week-long immersion program at the University of Brawijaya (UB) in Indonesia.
Running from August 18 to August 24, 2024, this initiative is aimed at broadening the global competencies of ISUFST’s academic community by exposing them to international standards in education and cultural practices.
The delegation is composed of seven faculty members and nine students from various departments. Leading the charge from the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) are Dr. Benjamin Cornelio Jr., Dr. Noel Caliston, Dr. Renante Diamante, and Instructor Alex Facelo Jr., accompanied by four Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students.
Concurrently, faculty members from the College of Agriculture (COA) and the Office of International Affairs and Linkages are guiding three Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students through a series of specialized activities.
Dr. Nordy Siason Jr., President of ISUFST, emphasized the significance of this international exposure, saying, “This immersion program is a crucial step in our commitment to align ISUFST with global standards. I encourage our faculty and students to maximize this experience, absorb as much knowledge as possible, and share these valuable insights with the ISUFST community upon their return.”
The CICT participants are involved in workshops, lectures, and collaborative research projects that delve into the latest innovations in information technology, aiming to bring these insights back to enrich ISUFST’s ICT programs.
Meanwhile, the COA contingent is engaging in agricultural studies, attending field visits, and collaborating on research addressing regional agricultural challenges and advancements.
The immersion not only reinforces ISUFST’s international partnerships but also supports its mission to produce globally competitive graduates.
Upon their return on August 24, 2024, the faculty and students are expected to share their acquired knowledge, benefiting both their personal development and the wider academic community at ISUFST. Top of Form Bottom of Form
