ISUFST hosts smart procurement planning workshop for 2025

The Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) hosted a hands-on Smart Procurement Planning workshop at the Social Tiwi of the Main Campus-Tiwi Site on Friday, June 21, 2024.

The event brought together key personnel from both Poblacion and Tiwi Sites of the Main Campus, focusing on revolutionizing procurement practices for fiscal year 2025.

The workshop aimed to prepare each office’s Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) and Annual Procurement Plan (APP) for the upcoming year.

Attendees participated in orientation and skills enhancement, which included presentations on the basics of the procurement process and accomplishments, discussions on planning methods as per RA 9184, and an open forum for in-depth conversations on supply chain management.

In his remarks, ISUFST President Dr. Nordy Siason, Jr. emphasized the importance of a forward-thinking and ethical approach to procurement.

“Level up, and everybody will be taken care of in the spirit of social justice, which is one of the guiding principles of ISUFST. Be honest, efficient, and focused in your work,” Dr. Siason urged the attendees, highlighting the need for integrity, equity, and diligence in their roles.

The afternoon session featured a hands-on workshop where participants, including representatives from BAC, Supply, Budget, TWG, and end-users, collaboratively developed strategies and finalized the PPMP/APP for 2025.

The interactive segment allowed for multi-office conversation, priority alignment, real-time problem-solving, on-the-spot consultation, and strategy refinement.

Director of the Procurement Office Eraño “Sir Jigz” Mendoza, MPA, underscored the importance of proactive and smart planning in procurement.

“We now aim to be more proactive and intelligent in our approach to each office’s PPMP. Leveraging the insights from today’s event will drive operational efficiency and smarter procurement strategies,” Mendoza said.

The event successfully fostered a proactive mindset and smart procurement practices, setting the stage for a more efficient and effective procurement landscape at ISUFST for the fiscal year ahead. This initiative aligns with ISUFST’s commitment to enhancing its processes and ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and ethically.

The university looks forward to implementing the strategies developed during the event to achieve its goals for FY 2025. (Herman Lagon/PAMMCO)
