ISUFST Launches ‘Tunda’ Newsletter for RSCUAA 2024

TIWI, BAROTAC NUEVO, ILOILO – The Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) has launched Tunda, a special newsletter designed to keep the community informed and engaged during the upcoming Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA) 2024 Sports Festival and Conference.

Tunda, meaning “announcement” in Hiligaynon, embodies the newsletter’s goal of disseminating essential information and fostering collaboration and inclusivity among participants.

The concept of Tunda was introduced during the RSCUAA 2024 Strategic Planning sessions held on October 10-11 and October 15, where RSCUAA and ISUFST officials, along with sports administrators, gathered to prepare for the event.

With the theme “One Western Visayas: Promoting Peace, Inclusivity, and Well-Being through Sports,” Tunda aims to connect the Region VI SUCs community and its stakeholders. It symbolizes a multi-party partnership that underscores the strength of collaboration and shared values among various institutions.

Tunda will work alongside the RSCUAA 2024 website and social media channels to enhance engagement, improve information dissemination, and strengthen communication throughout the six-day sports event.

The newsletter not only provides information but also reflects ISUFST’s core values, supporting the RSCUAA theme by fostering a supportive environment. By promoting transparency, encouraging participation, and celebrating achievements, Tunda aligns with the principles of integrity, social justice, discipline, and academic excellence.

This initiative ensures inclusivity, giving a voice to all within the community and contributing to a harmonious and unified spirit during the RSCUAA 2024 celebrations.

Tunda will feature a special issue following the opening ceremonies and a comprehensive summary of the event, which runs from December 15 to 20, 2024. The publication will cover the participation of 14 state universities and more than 15 sports events. Digital editions will be available on ISUFST’s official Facebook page, website, and RSCUAA 2024 info boards.

Dr. Jescel Bito-onon, RSCUAA Newsletter Sub-Committee Chairperson, said, “Tunda will not only inform but also unite our community under a shared purpose, reflecting our commitment to integrity, social justice, and academic excellence. We will collaborate closely with the Public Relations, Documentation, Website, and Secretariat Committees to ensure comprehensive and cohesive coverage.”

On Thursday, November 7, the newsletter committee met with members and a Public Relations Committee representative at the ISUFST Main Campus-Tiwi Site Conference Room to discuss publication protocols, layout, pagination, and inter-committee collaboration. The meeting underscored the importance of a unified approach to information dissemination, reinforcing Tunda’s collaborative spirit.

A training workshop for volunteer students and staff is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, at the same venue, aimed at equipping committee members with the skills needed to maintain a consistent language, layout, and style across all related committees.

As the ISUFST community prepares for RSCUAA 2024, Tunda stands as a beacon of communication, promoting engagement and cooperation among the region’s student-athletes. Through this initiative, ISUFST reaffirms its commitment to empowering individuals, nurturing a culture of excellence, and fostering well-being through sports.
