MOROZAKI, AICHI PREFECTURE, Japan—The Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) has taken another significant step toward internationalization by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Goushigaisha Mifune, a leading SIAP Training Center in Japan.
The MOA was signed today, August 9, at Guminoki, Morozaki, Minamichita, Chita, Aichi Prefecture.
The agreement was represented by Training Hotel Center President Iida Hideyuke, accompanied by Ota Masataka for Goushigaisha Mifune, and ISUFST President Dr. Nordy Siason Jr.
This groundbreaking partnership offers unparalleled opportunities for ISUFST students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) programs, among others, across all campuses.
Qualified students will undergo a minimum six-month internship at prestigious establishments in Japan, with comprehensive pre-training in Japanese culture, language, and related practices.
Dr. Siason expressed that the partnership exemplifies ISUFST’s unwavering commitment to internationalization and collaboration.
“This partnership is a testament to our principles of integrity, social justice, discipline, and academic excellence. We are prepared to equip students and faculty with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the global challenges of the 21st century,” Siason said.
The Aichi representatives also conveyed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, citing their eagerness to support ISUFST students in acclimating to their internship roles and their excitement to host dedicated and talented interns from the university.
This MOA marks another milestone in ISUFST’s ongoing pursuit of internationalization.
Following successful initiatives in Thailand and Indonesia, the university aims to expand its Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) to Hong Kong and Japan, broadening international experiences through student exchanges, research, conferences, training, and other collaborations.
The agreement follows ISUFST’s recognition at the 3rd Regional Quality Awards 2024, where the university received the Award for Excellence in Internationalization Initiatives last May.
These accolades underscore ISUFST’s dedication to advancing education and maintaining high standards both locally and globally. (Text by Dr. Herman Lagon/Photos by Dr. Nordy Siason Jr./PAMMCO)
