Ivermectin – miracle drug?

By Modesto P. Sa-onoy

Yesterday I presented Ivermectin as a component of ZIVERDO but while this drug is known and approved by the government there is also opposition for its use in the treatment of the corona virus to the chagrin of many doctors that have found it effective as the first defense against the virus. The issue for and against it has reached the United States Congress which conducted a hearing on December 8, 2020 led by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.

I was wondering why the hearing was held by this committee and not the one directly concerned with health issues. Nevertheless, the Senate Committee proceeded with the inquiry.

Through Newswise, I was able to secure the report on the session of the Senate Committee. The subject was labelled, “Early Outpatient Treatment: An Essential Part of a COVID-19 Solution”.

Appearing as a witness, the resource person was Dr. Pierre Kory, President of the Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC). He called for the government “to swiftly review the already expansive and still rapidly emerging medical evidence on Ivermectin” as an early treatment for the virus.

Dr. Kory is the medical director of the Department of Medicine of the University of Wisconsin. With him were other specialists.

According to Dr. Kory, the “data show the ability of the drug Ivermectin to prevent COVID-19, to keep those with early symptoms from progressing to the hyper-inflammatory phase of the disease, and even to help critically ill patients recover.”

Dr. Kory testified that Ivermectin is effectively a “miracle drug” against COVID-19 and called upon the government’s medical authorities – the NIH, CDC, and FDA – to urgently review the latest data and then issue guidelines for physicians, nurse-practitioners, and physician assistants to prescribe Ivermectin for COVID-19.

The Associated Press (AP) quickly rebutted Dr. Kory’s claim that the “antiparasitic drug ivermectin has a miraculous effectiveness that obliterates the transmission of COVID-19 and will prevent people from getting sick.” The AP assessment said “There’s no evidence Ivermectin has been proven a safe or effective treatment against COVID-19.”

The AP also cited other doctors and one Democrat senator to support its rebuttal with statements but they only made general denials of Ivermectin’s claimed efficacy. I think the AP assessment is part of the effort of a movement organized late last year by the mainstream media in the United States to defend the globalists that are promoting the vaccine as the treatment for the virus and in the face of the increasing number of people who believe in the conspiracy theory that created the pandemic.

The AP’s immediate rejection of the drug is suspect because Dr. Kory is only asking for the government to consider the expanding compiled data supporting his claim.

“People are dying at unacceptable and untold rates,” Dr. Kory told the Senate panel. “I am a lung and ICU specialist, and all I do right now is take care of COVID-19 patients dying of breathlessness in ICUs. By the time they get to the ICU, it is nearly impossible to save most patients. They simply cannot breathe.”

Although encouraged by the apparent successes of vaccines, Dr. Kory said doctors now consider the lack of governmental guidance and research on effective early, at-home preventive treatment unconscionable when hospitals are overflowing with more than 100,000 patients admitted – and record numbers of deaths are reported daily.

“Ivermectin and the components in the I-Mask+ Protocol could save hundreds of thousands of people around the globe who do not have to die while they await the widespread distribution of the vaccines,” Dr. Kory told the committee.

Kory said that the amount of evidence the FLCCC Alliance has amassed and compiled into a manuscript far exceeds the level required for a compassionate use authorization as defined by the FDA.

“That happened for Remdesivir, a drug with far less supportive evidence and much, much higher cost,” continued Dr. Kory. “Why can’t it happen for Ivermectin given this level of evidence? How many more trials have to be done when our manuscript details results from over 20 studies— with over ten of them randomized controlled trials?

Why indeed is government not validating the claim on Ivermectin? We continue tomorrow.
