BACOLOD City – Personnel of Dumaguete City Police Station in Negros Oriental arrested a woman who tried to sneak in suspected shabu hidden in rice cakes or locally known as “puto,” to a detainee at the police station yesterday.
A certain Shiela, 27, went to the police station to bring the food to a detainee, when she resisted the supposed search on the food she brought, according to the police in a media interview.
Policemen usually check the items or food that visitors bring to the detainees for security measures to prevent sneaking in of contrabands inside the custodial facility.
But when police told Shiela that they will really have to check the food, she ran away, threw the plastic of rice cakes, and hid.
This prompted the policemen to chase her until she was cornered.
She was taken to the police station where they all checked the rice cakes and found sachets of suspected shabu hidden in three rice cakes.
In a media interview, Shiela denied the allegation against her, claiming that she was just asked by someone to bring the food to a detainee whom she didn’t even know.
She said she just needed money to buy milk for her three children.
The suspect is now detained at the police station and will be facing drug charges.
