BAROTAC NUEVO, ILOILO — Jewelmer Philippines, the internationally acclaimed luxury pearl brand behind the Miss Universe and Miss Universe Philippines crowns, visited the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) on May 27, 2025, for an on-campus recruitment drive at Paler Hall, Main Campus–Tiwi Site.
The visit marked Jewelmer’s search for passionate marine biology graduates to join its renowned pearl farm in Palawan—a rare opportunity that generated excitement across campus.
At Paler Hall, Jewelmer representatives Vianney Brossard and Marlene Covarrubias were welcomed with smiles and a palpable sense of anticipation.
Students from the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS), some carrying résumés and others exchanging nervous laughter, lined up with hopes of launching careers in sustainable pearl farming.
The atmosphere was part job fair, part homecoming—filled with optimism and pride.
“We are truly grateful for the warm hospitality extended by the ISUFST community,” Brossard said.
She praised the professionalism, interest and passion of the students, noting their strong potential.
Brossard also acknowledged the efforts of CFAS Dean Rolindo Demo-os and his team for facilitating the visit and ensuring a smooth engagement.
The partnership was made possible through Dr. Mary Mar Nobelzada-Payne, whose earlier research collaboration with Jewelmer laid the groundwork for this recruitment event.
The initiative may evolve into a long-term academic and industry collaboration.
ISUFST looks forward to deepening its ties with Jewelmer Philippines and opening more career paths for CFAS graduates in marine biology, aquaculture and sustainable pearl farming. (Jose Eugene Salazar/PAMMCO)
