ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A jobless man wanted for illegal possession of firearms was arrested Wednesday morning, October 23, in President Roxas, Capiz.
The President Roxas police, led by Police Major Alfred De Leon, along with the 2nd Platoon of the 1st Capiz Mobile Force and the Provincial Intelligence Team under Police Captain Dennis Razo, arrested Ramon Maligaya, a resident of Sitio Cabaldon, Brgy. Poblacion, President Roxas, Capiz.
Maligaya, of legal age, was the No. 1 most wanted person in President Roxas at the municipal level for violating Section 32, Article V of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The operation took place around 10:35 a.m. at his house in Brgy. Poblacion.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Kristine Tiangco-Vinculado of Branch 15, Roxas City, on October 17, 2024.
The court set bail at PHP 200,000 for his temporary release.
Maligaya is currently in the custody of the President Roxas Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man is under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Capiz after being arrested in an entrapment operation on Wednesday afternoon, October 23, in Brgy. Cagay, Roxas City.
Police identified the suspect as Dindo Baes, a resident of Brgy. Banica.
Recovered from Baes were one .45-caliber pistol, one magazine, and PHP 29,000 in buy-bust boodle money.
He will face charges for violating RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
