A 33-year-old jobless man was arrested during a police anti-illegal drugs operation evening of Nov 23, 2020 in Ajuy, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect as Rommel Babar, a resident of Barangay Lanjagan, Ajuy town.
Members of the Ajuy Police Station, together with operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit teams 1 and 3, nabbed Babar after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P20,000 at Barangay Mangorocoro around 7 pm Monday.
Lieutenant Danilo Noca, Ajuy police chief, said they seized seven sachets of suspected shabu, a Vivo mobile phone, P2,052 cash from the suspect on top of the marked money.
The seized substance weighed around 20 grams and was valued at P100,000.
Noca said Babar is a street-level pusher but it was only a month ago that police learned of his alleged illicit trade.
He allegedly got his supply from Iloilo City.
“He usually gathered orders from his clients. He should have enough orders before traveling to Iloilo City,” Noca said.
Police operatives earlier tried buying P3,000 worth of drugs, but the suspect turned it down.
Babar is now detained at the lock-up cell of Ajuy Police Station and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
