A 29-year-old jobless man was arrested during a gun raid conducted on Independence Day in Barangay Jalandoni-Wilson in City Proper, Iloilo City.

The suspect, identified only as alias Dako, was apprehended by members of Iloilo City Police Station 7 based on an arrest warrant for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

During the operation, police recovered a homemade break-type, single-shot caliber .45 pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition.

Captain Michael Tuburan, chief of ICPS 7, said the raid stemmed from multiple complaints filed by neighbors against the suspect.

Witnesses reported that the suspect frequently brandished his firearm while intoxicated.

In one incident last month, he allegedly drew his handgun after an e-bike driver failed to give him priority for a ride.

Tuburan noted that the suspect had no prior criminal record before this incident.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man was arrested in a separate gun raid in Barangay Toledo, Nabas, Aklan on June 12.

The suspect, identified as alias Milo, was found in possession of a loaded caliber .38 revolver and a 40mm rifle grenade.

Both suspects are now detained and will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under RA 10591.
