Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson made some headlines off the court after reports that the NBA guard helped a food truck owned by Filipinos that got vandalized with racial remarks.
After Utah Jazz’s huge game 1 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference semifinals, Clarkson immediately heeded the call in helping the restoration of the World Famous Yum Yum Asian Food Truck.
“It hurt me deeply to see that Salt Lake’s Yum Yum Asian food truck was recently vandalized. I know the pain that hateful language and racism causes,” Clarkson posted on his Twitter account.
Photos of the Asian food truck showed it was vandalized with the words “F-CK CH-NKS.” The photos quickly went viral on social media.
Clarkson offered to pay for the restoration caused by the vandals as well as the new look that will be designed for the truck.
Reports also confirmed that the food truck will be reopening when the Filipino community celebrates Independence Day in Salt Lake City.
“Thank you @JordanClarksons for not only wrapping our food truck, but also for having it detailed at Gorilla Car Wash and for your continued support and encouragement. It means the world to the community and to us,” tweeted Yum Yum Asian Food Truck.
