The highly-touted younger brother of Juan and Javi Gomez de Liaño chose a different path and will not join them in UP.

Instead, six-foot-five swingman Jordi Gomez de Liaño committed to their rival school University of Santo Tomas (UST) and will be the newest recruit of the Growling Tigers.

Jordi was one of the best scorers in the UAAP juniors’ division and posted 13.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game during Season 82.

“I’m extremely excited to play for UST. To play with their great coaching staff and teammates, it’s an honor for me to be a part of the team,” said Jordi.

Scouts expected Jordi to reunite with his brothers with the UP Fighting Maroons but were shocked to hear the sudden turn of events in the collegiate scene.

The news first broke out in an article by The Varsitarian and later on was confirmed by multiple sources from Spin.ph.

Jordi will seek to form a formidable 1-2 punch with reigning UAAP MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo and is expected to bring immediate impact to the team once the season starts.
