The Junior Philippine Golf Tour (JPGT) is set to make history with the launch of its expanded 15-leg circuit under the new banner of the ICTSI Elite Junior PGT Series 2025, aimed at scouting and developing junior golf talent nationwide.
The enhanced format, now recognized as a counting event for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), provides young Filipino golfers with a globally recognized platform to earn ranking points and gain international exposure.
The tour will culminate in the inaugural North vs South Elite Junior Finals from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 at The Country Club in Laguna, the same venue that hosted last year’s highly competitive JPGT Match Play Finals.
In the 2024 edition, junior golfers from the Visayas and Mindanao Series dominated, capturing six of eight titles across four age divisions in boys and girls categories.
This outcome reinforced the program’s commitment to identifying regional talent and grooming potential national team members and world-class athletes.
“The expansion is a major milestone in junior golf development in the Philippines,” said a JPGT representative.
“We’re seeing more kids from outside Metro Manila getting proper exposure and competitive opportunities, which is essential for the sport’s growth.”
The JPGT was launched in 2023 and introduced a structured age-category system now segmented into three brackets: 7-10, 11-14 and 15-18 years old.
Each player may register only in one series—Luzon or VisMin—based on their residence or birthplace, and cannot switch between regions during the season.
To qualify for the North vs South Finals, participants must compete in at least three of the seven events in their designated series, with only their top three results counted toward the final standings.
The top four players per division in each series will advance to the championship round.
The Luzon Series tees off on April 8-10 at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club’s Norman Course, followed by Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martires on April 22-24 and Splendido Taal on April 28-30.
The VisMin Series opens at Mactan Island Golf Course in Cebu on May 5-7, before heading to Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod on May 14-16 and Bacolod Golf Club in Murcia on May 19-21.
The four-leg Mindanao swing kicks off at Del Monte Golf and Country Club in Bukidnon from June 25-27, followed by Pueblo de Oro in Cagayan de Oro on June 30 to July 2.
Davao will host the final two Mindanao legs at South Pacific Golf and Leisure Estates on July 9-11 and Apo Golf and Country Club on July 14-16.
The tour wraps up the Luzon Series with its final four legs at Riviera Golf Club from July 29-31, Caliraya Springs Golf Club on Aug. 5-7, Pradera Verde in Pampanga on Aug. 12-14 and Pinewoods Golf and Country Club in Baguio from Aug. 19-21.
“With the new structure and international recognition from WAGR, this year’s series offers young players a real shot at global opportunities,” said the tour organizer.
“We want the JPGT to be a launchpad for the next generation of Filipino golf champions.”
The ICTSI Elite Junior PGT Series is backed by ICTSI and other stakeholders committed to elevating the junior golf landscape in the Philippines.
