A village official was arrested after police or raided his house at Nueva Valencia, Guimaras early morning of March 21.
Police only identified the suspect as alias Edgar, a barangay kagawad of Canhawan village, Nueva Valencia.
Members of the Nueva Valencia Municipal Police Station, together with personnel from the Guimaras Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (GPPO-PIU) and Guimaras Provincial Mobile Force Company, swooped down on the suspect’s house by virtue of a search want for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Police recovered a caliber .45 pistol with two magazines and 10 ammunition.
Edgar reportedly failed to present any document for the legality of his gun possession.
Colonel Rhea Sa’tos, Guimaras police chief, said the police operation was carried out because of some complaints against the suspect.
Reports said he was accused of gun poking on November 2024.
On January 2025, he was accused for the same offense.
He allegedly pointed his gun at the father of a school child who refused to attend a meeting at school.
The man intimated that he will have his wife to attend on his behalf but it didn’t sit well with the suspect.
Edgar is now detained and will be charged for violation of RA 10591.
