A village official remains at large after he allegedly shot his neighbor late evening of Feb. 11 in Anilao, Iloilo.

Barangay Kagawad Alan Lagamon of Manganese village, Anilao, fled after he attacked Ram John Delmo, 24, of Barangay Mostro, Anilao.

Captain Jesse Lepaña, Anilao police chief, said while the suspect is an elected official of Manganese, he is keeping a house and running a store at the nearby Mostro where the incident happened.

Prior to the incident, the victim’s 21-year-old brother passed by in front of Lagamon’s store.

There was a confrontation between them that led to a heated argument.

Minutes after that, the victim also passed by the area and was again confronted by the suspect.

“We heard that there was a prior conflict between the suspect and the brothers,” Lepaña said.

But Ram John and Lagamon’s argument escalated with the latter pulling out a handgun and repeatedly shooting the victim.

Lepaña said the victim sustained a gunshot wound on the forehead, on the back of his head, and right arm.

Members of the Anilao Emergency Responders rushed the victim to Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center in Barotac Nuevo town.

He was later transferred to Western Visayas Medical Center and is due for surgery, Lepaña said.

Recovered from the scene of the incident were three empty fired cartridges of suspected caliber .45 pistol.
