BACOLOD City – Police are looking at three angles behind the killing of a barangay kagawad at Upper Maayongtubig, Dauin, Negros Oriental yesterday.
Killed was Kagawad Agustin Aragones of Barangay Maayongtubig.
Police Captain Louie Batuto, town police chief, said they are eyeing grudges, business rivalry, or politics as possible motives behind the killing.
“Marami daw siyang mga negosyo, negosyante talaga siya,” he said.
Batuto did not elaborate on the possible angles because of the ongoing investigation.
Batuto said the victim was watering his plants at their compound when the suspects entered the main gate.
“Nakabukas lang iyong gate tapos biglang pinasok lang siya habang nagdidilig,” he said.
Batuto said that Aragones was shot at close range on his face and head.
Aragones was taken into a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The shooting happened a month after Barangay Bagacay chairman Stephen Alam was killed inside the barangay hall in the said town on May 5.
Batuto said that Aragones was on his first term as barangay councilor.
