Filipino basketball sensation Kai Sotto reportedly didn’t make the list of the invited participants for the upcoming 2022 NBA Rookie Draft workout combine.
Sports reporter Shams Charania of The Athletic was the one who announced the players who got invited and will be headlined by top prospects Ron Harper Jr., Paolo Banchero, and Chet Holmgren.
However, co-Asian NBA aspirant Fanbo Zeng from China made the list who was a revelation during the NBA G League under the team Ignite.
The NBA Rookie Draft workout combine will be held in Chicago from May 16-17 and will become a crucial part of the selection process of all NBA teams seeking their picks.
A total of 76 NBA aspirants were invited to Chicago and will undergo various tests such as athletic drills, shooting drills, and five-on-five scrimmages.
NBA head coaches already spending their off-season are expected to grace the prestigious event for the rookies and will also be visited by the top recruiting agencies that can help them get through to the big league.
On the positive side, Adam Zagoria of Forbes Sports released the news that Sotto is already all-set to workout with several NBA teams.
Zagoria also added that Sotto is currently in Atlanta and is having his light training before his NBA workouts kick off on May 23.
Sotto will have the chance to impress in all of his workouts to improve his draft stock. If ever he gets drafted, he will become the first pure Filipino to play in the NBA.
