Kevin Quiambao is staying with the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers.
After rumors spread that the recently crowned UAAP champion will be heading overseas and follow the footsteps of Carl Tamayo, RJ Abarrientos, Rhenz Abando, and SJ Belangel, Quiambao already confirmed that he will return and give the DLSU community another crown this coming Season 87.
Quiambao made everything official last December 13, 2023, when he posted a photo of him in his Instagram account with the caption: “After constantly consulting my family and friends, we’re excited to run it back and try to make it B2B!”
The versatile power forward had his best run in the UAAP so far after becoming the first local Most Valuable Player (MVP) in eight years while also leading the Green Archers to its first championship title in seven years.
Quiambao proved why he is worthy of that MVP trophy after leading DLSU in the clutch against UP during the do-or-die Game 3.
After DLSU trailed for the most part of the game, Quiambao’s steadiness and clutch genes worked like magic in the final six minutes of the duel, hitting several much-needed baskets that erased UP’s six-point lead.
Quiambao grabbed the spotlight in Game 3 after tallying 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Aside from winning the regular season MVP award, Quiambao’s stellar showing in the grand finals stage also helped him clinch the Finals MVP trophy.
However, Quiambao’s quest in leading the Green Archers to another title will be difficult this time as they will be missing the services of Evan Nelle, their senior point guard who also delivered in the clutch for the Green Archers against UP.
Can Quiambao repeat his historic UAAP season and lead the Green Archers to another championship finish?
