A laborer was found dead on the morning of September 14 in Lambunao, Iloilo.
The body of 50-year-old Rolando Alonday, a resident of Barangay Supanga, Calinog, Iloilo, was discovered in a rice field in Barangay Alugmawa, several meters from his employer’s house.
Alonday’s employer, identified as Eva, found the body while looking for him to have breakfast.
The victim reportedly stayed at his employer’s home when he had farm work.
Major Roy Tayona, Lambunao police chief, said Alonday sustained gunshot wounds to his head.
Tayona mentioned that a 12-gauge shotgun may have been used in the shooting.
Approximately an hour before the discovery, gunfire was reported in the area.
Authorities are still investigating to determine the motive and identify the suspect behind Alonday’s killing.
Meanwhile, the victim’s wife claimed that her husband had been accused of stealing a rice thresher in Barangay Alugmawa, although it is unclear if this incident is connected to his death.
