BACOLOD CITY – Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson commended security forces for their role in ensuring peace and order during the weeklong celebration of the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2025.

Lacson led the deactivation of Task Group Panaad Festival 2025 on Monday at Panaad Park, joined by Police Col. Rainerio De Chavez, provincial director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo); Charina Magallanes-Tan, festival executive director; and Irene Bel Ploteña, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division.

The provincial police reported no major crime incidents during the festival, which was held March 24 to 30.

However, 215 minor medical emergencies, including heat exhaustion and minor injuries, were recorded and efficiently handled by on-site medical teams.

Lacson said the visible presence of law enforcement personnel was instrumental in maintaining safety, order and security throughout the event.

He said the success of the festival was not only seen in the vibrant cultural showcase and high public enthusiasm but also in the peaceful atmosphere that allowed attendees to celebrate without fear.

“The PNP has once again demonstrated professionalism, discipline and efficiency in managing large crowds, safeguarding public spaces and responding to contingencies,” Lacson added.

A total of 1,063 security and emergency personnel were deployed, supported by 17 patrol units, 20 motorcycles, four fire trucks and 10 ambulances.

The festival grounds were divided into nine sectors to enhance crowd control and ensure rapid response.

According to Nocppo, the festival drew approximately 73,462 attendees, reflecting strong community engagement and public support.

While no major incidents were reported, Nocppo identified areas for improvement such as expanded closed-circuit television (CCTV) coverage and improved prop management.

De Chavez expressed gratitude to all law enforcement agencies for their professionalism and commitment to providing a safe environment for festivalgoers.
