The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has appointed Captain Mary Jane Panes as the new chief of Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 3.
Captain Panes formally assumed her role in a turnover of command ceremony held on the morning of Oct. 30 at ICPO headquarters, Camp Achilles D. Plagata, on Gen. Luna Street, Iloilo City Proper.
Colonel Kim Legada, Iloilo City police director, presided over the ceremony, marking the transition from outgoing chief Captain Melchor Tolentino to Panes.
In a statement, the ICPO highlighted that Panes’ appointment reflects the office’s commitment to stable and effective leadership within its ranks.
Previously assigned to the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company, Panes has served as chief of police in the towns of San Rafael and Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Tolentino was reassigned to attend the Investigation Officers Course, a key component of the Philippine National Police (PNP) career advancement program designed to improve skills in intelligence, investigation, and other core policing competencies.
Legada noted that this transition aligns with ICPO’s commitment to professional growth, ensuring that officers are well-prepared to serve the public effectively.
During the ceremony, Legada emphasized the importance of this leadership shift at ICPS3, reaffirming ICPO’s dedication to consistent and enhanced policing services throughout Iloilo City.
“As we strive to achieve our goals, I encourage all ICPS3 personnel to fully support our new leadership. Let teamwork, discipline, and dedication guide us toward success in all our endeavors,” Legada said.
He further encouraged Panes to focus on unity, strengthen public trust, and foster community collaboration.
