The last coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient in Guimbal, Iloilo has recovered from the virus without undergoing any medication and treatment in a hospital, local authorities reported on Friday.

According to Dr. Jay Dorin, municipal health officer of Guimbal, the 51-year-old female patient was placed under strict home quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Asymptomatic siya so wala siya gin-admit. Nag-undergo lang siya strict home quarantine kay siya lang man isa sa balay,” Dorin told Daily Guardian.

Dorin said the patient did not take any specific medication but recovered from COVID-19 on her own.

Nag-conduct kami repeat test sang Sunday and nagwa results niya kahapon nga negative. Wala man siya may gin-take nga medication, nag-recover lang siya. Siguro maayo lang gid iya immune system,” he said.

The patient was the second case in Guimbal and one of the household helpers of the first patient from the same town who also recovered from the disease.

Bale sa isa lang sila ka compound pero tatlo ka balay. Didto sa balay sang patient nag-stay ang kabulig kag ang first patient sa separate nga balay,” Dorin said.

The first patient in Guimbal, a 65-year-old male, was recently discharged from a hospital after testing negative for COVID-19.

Two out of the three cases recorded in the town of Guimbal have fully recovered.

Meanwhile, the town’s third case who had no close contact with the first two expired last March 31. He is a 58-year-old male who traveled to Metro Manila.

According to Dorin, they are still awaiting the laboratory results of three other individuals who had exposure to the third case in the town and a positive case from Pavia, Iloilo.

May test pa kami na wala pa kasulod. Ang duha nga may exposure sa third case nga napatay, kag ang nagkacontact sa patient sa Pavia,” he said.

While the two patients in Guimbal have recovered, Dorin reminded the residents to remain vigilant against COVID-19.

Maskin wala na kami pasyente, indi man kami kampante. Very vigilant kami gihapon. Ang tanan nga need maghome quarantine dapat strikto gihapon. Continue lang ang cooperation, amo na ginapangayo ta sa publiko,” he said.

The Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6) has recorded eight recoveries in the region as of April 17, 2020.

Iloilo province has two recoveries from Guimbal and Miag-ao.

Meanwhile, two patients from Bacolod City have also recovered while Iloilo City, Negros Occidental, and Capiz each reported one survivor.
