After a long wait, Brazil’s legendary volleyball figure Jorge Edson Souza de Brito finally arrived in the Philippines.
The veteran volleyball tactician was named as part of the Philippine women’s volleyball team coaching staff and is expected to be in their bubble soon.
Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Ramon “Tats” Suzara confirmed that Souza de Brito will have to comply with the health and safety protocols and is currently undergoing quarantine and will be available to join the bubble on August 1.
The arrival of coach Souza de Brito was just in time for the team’s training for the upcoming Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship on August 28.
Philippines’ national team was grouped with Kazakhstan, Chinese-Taipei, and Uzbekistan in the Group A of the prestigious tournament.
With the country’s professional volleyball league now ongoing, the players that were included in the 16-member pool will resume their training today.
Souza de Brito will be working alongside the national team’s head coach Odjie Mamon and will try to improve the system and bring pride to the country.
