BACOLOD City – Mayor Evelio Leonardia appealed to the public to stop making negative statements on how the city implements stringent measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) here.
“Palihog indi niyo na pag labugaya. Indi kamo maglahog sa sini na butang,” the mayor said, referring to persons who posted negative statements on social media, following report of one positive COVID-19 case here.
“It’s enough that we have this news,” Leonardia said. “Please contribute something positive instead of being negative,” he added.
In the age of social media, there are those who are just unmindful outright irresponsible, Leonardia said. “Please stop because you are not doing any good to the city,” he added.
“We are listening and we are open to suggestions. We are burning the midnight candles just to attend to these,” he said, adding that they are doing their best to implement measures to contain the disease.
Leonardia said that it is not enough to appeal but they also need the cooperation of the public. “We just have to be able to help each other and follow the guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH) for the good of everybody,” he added.
“Sa ini nga tion mag binuligay kita. We should not be irresponsible,” he stressed.
He said that COVID-19 is a worldwide crisis and he wants to assure the people that the city is doing these measures with best intentions and with the best interest of the people of Bacolod.
He said the best antidote is to stay at home.
