
An opportunity for women empowerment started rolling for different women’s group in Negros Occidental as the nation culminated the National Women’s Month celebration with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”.
Sixty-eight (68) women-beneficiaries from Brgy. Tiglawigan, Cadiz City are starting off with the Basic Commodities Store Project from the Php1,000,000 financial assistance released by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 through its Negros Occidental Field Office.
The proposed project was approved on March 1, 2023, just in time for the opening of the National Women’s Month Celebration.
According to the Cadiz City Women’s Council Inc.-Tiglawigan Chapter, this project was conceived out of the desire of the officers to help their members get over though the crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuous increase in the prices of basic commodities due to a high inflation rate.
The Municipality of Calatrava, on the hand, received a check amounting to Php1,000,000 for various livelihood project of 70 beneficiaries, of which 63 are women.
The financial assistance is for additional capitalization of the Balea Farmers Association Agri-Inputs Trading Project, and for the enhancement of Pandan Weaving Project of Barangay Mahilum Ambulant Vendors Association and San Isidro Ric Pandan Weaver Association.
