A regular employee of the Passi City local government was arrested during a police anti-narcotics operation on the morning of April 30.

Known by the alias Gideon, the 40-year-old was taken into custody during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, Passi City, Iloilo.

Members of the Passi City Police Station, in collaboration with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU), apprehended the suspect after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P5,000.

During the subsequent search, officers found four additional sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug related items on his person.

The seized drugs, totaling approximately 31 grams, have an estimated street value of P210,800.

Reports indicate that Gideon was previously a surrenderer under the Tokhang initiative and had recently been under surveillance for involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Mayor Stephen Palmares stated that the local government does not tolerate any law violations, especially by government employees. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone found breaking the law.

In addition to facing charges under the Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), the suspect is also likely to face administrative charges.
