The Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) has served a show-cause order to a Negros Occidental motorist who launched a profanity-filled rant and issued veiled threats against an LTO traffic enforcer during a Facebook Live broadcast.
The incident originated from a traffic apprehension on April 4 in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, where the rider was cited for operating an unregistered motorcycle and driving without a valid license.
After settling his fines and retrieving his impounded motorcycle at the LTO Bacolod City District Office on June 10, the motorist went live on Facebook, identified the enforcer by name, and made threatening remarks.
The show-cause order, recommended by Intelligence and Investigation Unit Head Shiela Mae Alulod, was approved by LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and personally served to the motorist at the LTO Bacolod office.
The order gives the motorist five days to submit a written explanation or face administrative sanctions under laws protecting public officers from threats and harassment.
“This is clearly harassment against an officer performing lawful duties,” Director Geduspan said.
“LTO-6 will not tolerate any form of intimidation or abuse targeting our personnel,” he added.
Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu stressed that under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, motorists who harass law enforcers may have their licenses suspended or revoked.
The move is part of a broader initiative led by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, under the guidance of Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, to uphold public order, traffic law compliance, and the safety of frontline enforcers.
