BACOLOD CITY — The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region has reiterated its warning against individuals performing dangerous stunts on public roads, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving and road safety.
This came after a minor was recently caught doing a “superman stunt” while speeding on a motorcycle in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental.
A video and photo of the rider were posted by a content creator on social media on March 2, prompting authorities to look for him.
The minor and his father later surrendered to the LTO District Office in San Carlos City.
The agency issued a show cause order and verified through the Land Transportation Management System that the rider does not possess a driver’s license.
They were directed to surrender the motorcycle and appear before the LTO-NIR office here within five days to explain why sanctions, including possible disqualification from obtaining a driver’s license, should not be imposed.
The agency stressed that the evidence circulating online showed the rider lying flat on his motorcycle while in motion — a reckless act that endangered not only his life but also the safety of motorists, passengers and pedestrians using the same road.
“Public roads are not stunt arenas.”
On March 13, the agency confirmed that the minor involved in the viral “superman stunt” video had submitted his written reply to the show cause order issued by the agency.
The minor, accompanied by his father and legal guardian, appeared at the LTO–San Carlos District Office to formally submit his explanation regarding the incident.
The response will be forwarded to the LTO-NIR office here for evaluation and appropriate action.
The LTO-NIR remains steadfast in its mandate to promote road safety and discipline among all road users across the region.
Last year, a rider executing a risky “superman” stunt along Orange Cliff in Don Salvador Benedicto also came to the attention of the LTO-NIR.
In the same year, a teacher was also caught on video doing a “superman” stunt while lying face down on his motorcycle along the national highway in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
