The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 based in Iloilo City has launched a proactive initiative to address the backlog of unclaimed driver’s licenses, aiming to improve public service delivery and streamline processes for motorists.
The effort, spearheaded by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza and supported by Regional Director Attorney Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu, is part of the agency’s strategic priorities for the year.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to efficiency and transparency,” said Assistant Secretary Mendoza. “By addressing the backlog, we are not only streamlining our processes but also ensuring that every eligible driver receives their documentation in a timely manner.”
To expedite the distribution of unclaimed licenses, the Iloilo City Licensing Center will operate on extended hours on four Saturdays—March 22, March 29, April 12, and April 26, 2025. Services will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on these dates, providing motorists additional opportunities to claim their licenses.
This initiative has garnered support from local authorities and road safety advocates, who emphasize the importance of timely access to driver’s licenses for both convenience and public safety.
“Every driver’s license issued is a step toward a safer and more organized road environment,” Geduspan said.
The LTO Region 6 encouraged motorists with unclaimed licenses to visit the Iloilo City Licensing Center on the scheduled dates to resolve their pending issues.
The extended service hours are expected to significantly reduce the backlog while setting a standard for efficient service delivery across other regions.
With this decisive action, LTO Region 6 reaffirmed its commitment to providing prompt, reliable, and accessible services to the public, ensuring motorists receive the support they need without unnecessary delays.
